Household Items Sculpture

Across the street from the Mural on the Pike Street Bridge and right next to the Paramount theater are 3 big mesh people sculptures comprise of depictions of various household items. Easy to pick out are a comb, a spatula, a ring, a bottle and a coffee cup. There might be others, but I think that's about it. I particularly like the one on the left with the top hat and fancy suit jacket.

Qwest Field

I didn't get very good pictures. Marques and I went to the Bears vs. Seahawks game yesterday. I snapped some pictures with the intent of taking more and forgot. Anyway, the game was good and pretty exciting. I'm not a Bears fan, but since I wear a Cubs hat and jacket, people see me with Marques (Urlacher jersey) and assume. It is fun to be contrary, so I stuck with it. Plus the Bears fans are the ones who kept giving positive comments on my Cubs hat, so I appreciated that. The stadium is awesome. The big replay screen is really cool, plus because it is in SODO (south of downtown), it has a cool view of the city on one end, including Smith Tower (the white one in the middle, probably my favorite building in the city).

The Fountain at Cal

This is Cal Anderson, a great public park around the corner from our place. I go there to play basketball and go for walks. This is the cool fountain and the reflecting pools.

Hippies

"Hippies, they're all around me! They want to save the world, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad." - Eric Cartman
This is written in the concrete (like when you write something before it hardens) and I pass it on my way to the park to play basketball. I've been shooting around almost every day for the past 2 weeks.

Mural on Pike Street Bridge

This is a long mural (60 feet or so) on the Pike Street Bridge to downtown from Capitol Hill. I end up walking by it once a week or so. It is so colorful and different. I keep meaning to go read some of the words on it to find out more, but haven't yet. I love all of the public art they have here in Seattle.

The Blue Angels

This is the view from the deck on the roof of our building. In July, during SeaFair, the Blue Angels were in town. They practiced during the week. They were incredibly close to our building. I was trying to work during the day and I had to postpone a call because I couldn't hear myself talk they were so loud. I went up to the roof to try to get some pictures. A couple of them turned out pretty well.

The Morning Mist

My favorite baseball quote is:

“People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.” - Rogers Hornsby (Cubs 2B & Manager 1929-1932)
Lately when I'm doing that, the scenery has been a little different. The morning fog has been crazy the last couple days. These are 2 pictures from my bedroom/office window, one in the morning and one later in the day. In the mornings, I can't see the downtown buildings. Yesterday, I couldn't see that yellow tree right after I got up. And the Commie College (Seattle Central), which is a block diagonal from my window was also encased in the mist. Eventually it cleared up all the way to be a perfectly clear day. The weather has been pretty awesome thus far. Everyone says the weather is unseasonably good for this time of year. Almost every day has been sunny at least in part. Because I get up so early and have a window office, I get to enjoy it.
